National Seminar on Restructuring and Strengthening of Veterinary Service Delivery System in the Nation

The Indian Veterinary Association (IVA) organized a national seminar titled “Restructuring and Strengthening of Veterinary Service Delivery System in the Nation” on 28th June 2019 at Officer Training Institute (OTI), Khanapara, Guwahati, Assam, India. The seminar was attended mostly by veterinarians from the eight northeastern states of India and the state of West Bengal.

A delegation of office bearers of IVA led by the President of the association Dr Chirantan Kadian and the Secretary-General Dr R.S Patel attended the seminar.

The Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Association (AAHVSA) was the organizing partner of the seminar.

Dr Dandeshwar Deka, President of The Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Association welcomed the delegates, and Dr Ilang, Vice President of IVA-East Zone, informed the participants regarding the objective of the seminar and the east zone meet of IVA to be organized on the sideline of the seminar.

The inaugural session chaired by President, IVA and attended by Sjt Atul Bora, Honorable Minister, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Assam.

The seminar was inaugurated by Sjt. Atul Bora, Hon’ble Minister, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Assam acting as Chief Guest. Dr Praveen Malik, Animal Husbandry Commissioner (AHC), Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries, Government of India, New Delhi and Dr Longrineken, Advisor -Law and Justice, Border Affairs & Treasuries, Government of Nagaland attended the inaugural session as Distinguished and Special Guest respectively. Other dignitaries who attend the inaugural ceremony included Sjt Kamala Kanta Nath, Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Assam, Dr Zasekuolie Chusi, IAS, Joint Secretary-Home, Government of Nagaland, Dr Bibekananda Saikia, Dean, College of Veterinary Science, Khanapara, Assam Agricultural University. Dr Pulin Ch Das, Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Assam, Dr H Chouba Singh, Director, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Government of Manipur and Dr Sudhakar Natarajan, DIG, ITBP ( ATS, Lohitpur ).

Dr Bhuban Sharma, Zonal Secretary ( East ), IVA offered a vote of thanks.

The seminar provided an opportunity for members of the IVA east zone to interact amongst themselves and develop a work plan for organizational strengthening. The IVA-East Zone and AAHVSA also acknowledged the contribution of a number of senior members attending from various states.
